Keenetic SFP Connections

Majdev

Question

Hello, I have a few questions for you. Can a GPON connection be made with the Keenetic SFP port? In my area, Huawei ONT and OLT are used, and verification is done with the SN number. Another question: does Keenetic have a product with a 10G SFP port (I couldn't find one in my country)? Also, if I connect a 10G SFP to a Keenetic 1G SFP port, will the connection be established? Additionally, does Cisco support SFP?

Yes, a GPON connection can be made with the Keenetic SFP port, but it requires a compatible GPON SFP module. Since Huawei ONT and OLT systems are used in your area, ensure the SFP module supports Huawei's SN-based verification. Keenetic currently doesn't offer a product with a 10G SFP port. If you connect a 10G SFP to a Keenetic 1G SFP port, the connection will not be established, as the speeds must match. Cisco does support SFP and SFP+ modules for various speeds, including 1G and 10G.

Thanks

It'll work only if another side also supports auto-negotiation and 1G speed. It may be another Keenetic router, PC network card or similar devices - but not a regular switch since they usually choose speed based on module' DDMI reporting (which will be 10G in your case), not on auto-negotiation.
