Question

Hi

When I enable NextDNS under Internet Security and open the Speedtest mobile app, it gives the warning:

“Your internet connection may be unstable.”

When Internet Security is disabled but I use the same NextDNS account via the iOS profile or app, everything works fine.

Why does this warning appear when NextDNS is active?

I tested it on 3 different Hopper DSL devices, across 3 different ISPs: 1 VDSL and 2 Fiber connections.

In both cases, NextDNS is active and the same profile is used.

  • Green: Indicates that it is active through the device's application or profile.
  • Yellow: Indicates that it is active through the router.

As far as I understand, there is a performance issue when it operates through the router.

The cloud-based content filtering and ad blocking component is not installed on my device. I use it as shown in the image. I've never experienced the problem you mentioned.

Is it possible to select a different profile for devices or send the device name to NextDNS using this method?

If no custom DNS addresses are entered for the clients, all devices will broadcast with the name set on the router. However, if a different name is desired, the custom DNS address must be set on the individual client. In this scenario, you cannot assign different profiles on a client-by-client basis using the profile set on the router; all devices will use the same profile. However, if you enter the details of a different profile on the client, it will work with that profile.

Thanks for your info.

The problem was not caused by NextDNS but by internet security. Do you think they’ll hear me? I doubt it.
