Stagnate9916 Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 The Transmission daemon version 4 has been available for two years. Could you please consider upgrading the Transmission daemon? The current version (3.00) is over four years old. For reference: Transmission 3.00 Release Quote
0 Le ecureuil Posted December 25, 2024 Posted December 25, 2024 Could you please tell us what features of the fourth version do you need? We don't upgrade because transmission 4.0 uses C++ inplace of C, and consumes significantly more CPU, RAM and flash storage. 2 Quote
0 Stagnate9916 Posted December 27, 2024 Author Posted December 27, 2024 I haven’t noticed any missing features so far. However, my main concern is the possibility of this client version eventually becoming deprecated from a tracker’s perspective. I installed Transmission 4 (latest) via OPKG, and it ran smoothly, so I thought: why not upgrade the stock client? I wasn’t aware of the increased resource usage it might bring. The one thing I’ve missed with the OPKG installation is the ability to restrict the client to a dedicated connection using Keenetic OS. Quote

We are keeping track of this, and in case of obsoletion we will do something, of course. But now it's not strictly required. Quote
