WiFi connection and Android smartphones

Question

Posted

Hi, I've recently bought a new KN-1011 Hero to replace my pretty old router with an expectation to use all the possibilities of my internet connection. Occasionally, on the second day of use I've discovered a very annoying problem when I am trying to connect my Android smartphone (Samsung A52) to the WiFi network. The new router does not let me open some apps and websites. E.g. I can open a news website, but not the speedtest.net. The same is happening to Google Play. If I use any other device (iPad of my laptop) it shows everything. The problem is appearing on a few of the available Android smartphones.

Currently, I use Keentic OS 3.8.4 (the latest available). I have already tried to disable all the WiFi features and use only 2.4G (g/n), channel 6. This has never happened to me on the new router.

If someone might have seen the same problem?

Cheers

Please check out the latest 3.9 Alpha 7 (Dev) version. There's a specific fix for A52.

Thank you for your response. I have tried to install 3.9 Alpha 7 and it partly works. So now I can open the speed test with the default settings, but for instance I still cannot open any other test (e.g. a1.net/internet-speedtest, it can open the main page, but not the content). Here it ends up with DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN in Chrome, but it works with mobile network and with WiFi on my old router. In most of the cases the error is that IP address of the server cannot be found. The same website works on my laptop and iPad.

The problem seems to be resolved. Thanks to the support team. I did not expect that a newer router might be so sensible to some settings. The issue was resolved by adding 2 additional default DNS records 8.8.8.8 and 1.1.1.1 that were not an issue with an old Linksys (it could work with a single DNS record from my provider). It was tested with the main version 3.8.4
